When you complete this module, you will be able to use the screens in the Primary tab to enter primary survey and scene findings information. The primary tab consists of two screens:
• Primary Survey, for documenting current ABC and AVPU of the patient.
• Scene Findings, which includes three types of information:
o Barriers to Patient Care
o Alcohol / Drug Use indicators
o Scene Findings
Key Point: You’ll use the Primary Survey screen to enter information for every call, as follows:
1. The Primary Survey Start time sets to the current time when you click the Primary tab. You’ll need to ensure the Start time of the Primary Survey is accurate (update it if necessary).
2. Ensure that the Done By field indicates the crew member who conducted the survey. “Done by” always defaults to the Attendant.
3. Fill out the Primary Survey for the patient, including entries for Alert x4.
When circumstances warrant, enter information on this screen and include details. The information will provide context to the receiving facility and enhance patient care
Key Point: Use of Other: Not all picklists have an “Other” option. Use “Other” only when none of the listed options fit, and when you do, add details. Use a specific pick list item to enter information whenever possible so that the information can be analyzed for reporting and research.
