This page will detail the basics of using Siren to document layered calls.
Whenever any paramedic crew (ALS or BLS) has any patient contact (as defined by policy) that crew must create a PCR.
Transfer control in Siren is to be used ONLY when care is transferred from one to another. On layered calls, do a PCR transfer only when a significant amount of information has been entered into a PCR by the first crew. It is the discretion of the crews as to whether to use transfer control, or for both crews to create their own PCRs. Do whatever best supports patient care at the receiving facility.
Higher level of care transports: In this instance, it is unlikely that the ALS crew will be able to accept a transfer while transporting a high-acuity patient. Both crews create PCRs.
